Thane, February 22, 2026 : A professional mechanical engineer residing in the Kasarvadavali area of Thane has been defrauded of Rs 3,15,67,954 in an online trading scam. The victim was contacted by fraudsters who promised high returns through a specific website. Between December 12, 2025, and February 11, 2026, he invested the amount in multiple transactions, believing the scheme to be genuine.
To build his confidence, the platform displayed a fabricated profit of USD 5 lakh, encouraging him to continue investing. The fraud came to light when he attempted to withdraw his funds, only to find his account blocked and the operators unreachable.
The Thane Cyber Police registered a case on Friday, February 20, 2026, against three unidentified individuals under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Information Technology Act. Investigators are examining digital evidence and tracing financial transactions to identify the perpetrators and dismantle the network behind the fraud.
