Lucknow | January 18, 2026: An IndiGo flight operating from Delhi to Bagdogra made a precautionary emergency landing at Lucknow airport on Sunday morning following a bomb threat, prompting a full-scale security response. All passengers and crew were safely evacuated, and no suspicious object was found during extensive checks, officials said.

According to authorities, Air Traffic Control received information around 8.46 am about a potential bomb threat on IndiGo flight 6E-6650. Acting on standard security protocols, the aircraft was immediately diverted and landed safely at Lucknow airport at approximately 9.17 am.

The flight was carrying 222 passengers, including eight infants, along with seven crew members. After landing, passengers were evacuated and the aircraft was moved to an isolation bay, where bomb disposal squads and other security agencies conducted a thorough inspection. Officials confirmed that no explosive or suspicious material was detected during the sweep.

Police officials said the alert was triggered after a handwritten note on a tissue paper bearing the words “Plane mein bomb” was found inside the aircraft. The matter was treated as a serious security threat, and all prescribed procedures were followed to ensure passenger safety.

An IndiGo spokesperson stated that the airline immediately informed the relevant authorities upon noticing the security threat and fully cooperated with security agencies during the checks. The airline also said efforts were made to minimise inconvenience to passengers by providing refreshments and regular updates, reiterating that passenger and crew safety remained its top priority.

After completion of mandatory security checks and clearance from authorities, all passengers re-boarded the aircraft. The flight subsequently departed Lucknow for its scheduled destination at around 4.40 pm.

Officials said airport operations remained normal throughout the incident and no untoward event was reported. The incident is being further reviewed as per standard aviation security procedures.
