Indian sports today were headlined by an intense day of Test cricket at Eden Gardens, major movements in the IPL, and notable success in Archery.
The first Test is currently finely balanced after two days of low-scoring cricket at Eden Gardens.
Day 1 saw India dominate, bowling South Africa out for 159 with Jasprit Bumrah taking 5/27.
Day 2 started with India taking a narrow first-innings lead of 30 runs, bowling out for 189. South African spinner Simon Harmer led the fightback with 4/30. Captain Shubman Gill retired hurt with a neck spasm and did not return to bat.
The crucial third session saw South Africa’s top order collapse spectacularly in their second innings, largely due to a brilliant spell by Ravindra Jadeja.
At the time of the latest update, South Africa were reeling at 93/7 , leading India 63 runs, setting the stage for a compelling Day 3.
