Two separate land transactions have ignited political turmoil in Maharashtra, involving Parth Pawar — son of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar — and Transport Minister Pratap Sarnaik.
In Pune, a 40-acre plot linked to Parth Pawar’s firm, Amadea Enterprises LLP, is under investigation after it emerged that the land was classified as Mahar Vatan (government property). Officials have suspended the sub-registrar who cleared the deal, citing procedural lapses. The sale has been cancelled, and authorities have demanded over ₹40 crore in stamp duty and penalties. Ajit Pawar has claimed his son was unaware of the land’s legal status, while opposition parties accuse the government of shielding those in power.
Meanwhile, in Mira-Bhayandar, Minister Pratap Sarnaik faces allegations of acquiring land worth about ₹200 crore for barely ₹3 crore through an educational trust. Sarnaik has denied the charges, but the opposition has demanded an independent probe.
Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has promised that “no one will be spared” if wrongdoing is proven. Both controversies have revived concerns about transparency and misuse of influence in high-value land deals, as the public awaits credible, time-bound investigations.
