150 Schoolgirls Killed in Missile Attack; Iran Unites in Outrage

Tehran, March 3, 2026 : Widespread protests broke out across Iran on Tuesday after a missile strike on an elementary school in Minab killed more than 150 schoolgirls, according to Iranian authorities. Officials in Tehran squarely blamed the United States and Israel for the attack, stating that it occurred during coordinated air and missile operations carried out over the weekend.

The school was located approximately 600 metres from an IRGC naval base, which was a confirmed target of the broader military operations on the day of the strike.

Thousands of mourners gathered in Tehran, Isfahan and Shiraz, carrying photographs of the victims and demanding accountability. Funeral processions drew large crowds, with many chanting against what they described as a direct attack on civilians and children.

The strike reportedly hit the school during morning classes, leaving dozens of others injured. Medical facilities in Hormozgan province are continuing to treat survivors as families prepare for mass funeral ceremonies.

Iran’s government has declared a period of national mourning and warned that the deaths of the schoolgirls would not go unanswered, further escalating tensions in the region.
