Mumbai, January 25, 2026 : A 33 year-old college professor was stabbed to death by a co-passenger on a Mumbai local train on Saturday evening following an argument during the journey, police said.
The victim, Alok Kumar Singh, who taught at NM College in Vile Parle and was a resident of Kandivali, was travelling from Vile Parle towards Kandivali when the incident occurred around 5.40 pm. According to the Government Railway Police, an altercation broke out between Singh and another passenger while the train was in motion.
As the train reached Malad station, the unidentified man allegedly attacked Singh with a sharp weapon before fleeing the spot, leaving him seriously injured. Fellow commuters alerted the authorities, following which railway police rushed Singh to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared him dead.
The Borivali Government Railway Police have registered a murder case against an unknown accused and launched a search to trace the attacker. Investigations are ongoing, officials said.
