Navi Mumbai, January 13, 2026: Harmanpreet Kaur produced a composed and authoritative innings to guide Mumbai Indians to a seven-wicket win over Gujarat Giants in a high-scoring Women’s Premier League match in Navi Mumbai on Tuesday, completing the highest successful run chase in the tournament’s history.
Put in to bat, Gujarat Giants posted a competitive 192 for five after a strong finish in the death overs. Georgia Wareham and Bharti Fulmali provided the late flourish, adding vital runs that lifted Gujarat to a total that appeared well above par on the surface.
Mumbai’s chase began on an uncertain note as they lost both openers inside the powerplay to slip to 37 for two. Harmanpreet then steadied the innings, first rebuilding patiently before shifting gears at the right moment. She found solid support in Amanjot Kaur, who played a brisk knock that helped swing momentum back in Mumbai’s favour.
After Amanjot’s departure, Harmanpreet was joined by Nicola Carey, and the duo ensured there were no further hiccups. They paced the chase intelligently, rotating strike and punishing loose deliveries to keep the required run rate under control. Their unbroken partnership sealed the contest with four balls to spare.
Harmanpreet brought up her half-century in quick time and went on to score an unbeaten 71 off 43 balls, including seven fours and two sixes. In the process, she became the first Indian batter to cross 1,000 runs in the Women’s Premier League.
The victory strengthened Mumbai Indians’ position in the points table and underlined their ability to handle pressure in big chases. Gujarat Giants, despite posting a strong total, were left to reflect on missed chances in the field that ultimately proved costly against a calm and clinical Mumbai batting display.
