Vadodara, January 20, 2026 : Delhi Capitals delivered a calm and well-structured performance to register a seven-wicket victory over Mumbai in a Women’s Premier League 2026 league match at Vadodara on Monday.
After being asked to bat first, Mumbai finished on 154 for 5 from their 20 overs. The innings revolved around Nat Sciver Brunt, who remained unbeaten on 65 from 45 deliveries, finding the boundary regularly and providing stability after early wickets. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur added momentum in the middle overs with a confident 41 off 33 balls, helping Mumbai recover from a cautious start and post a competitive total.
Delhi’s bowlers maintained control for most of the innings, avoiding expensive spells and breaking partnerships at key moments. While Mumbai accelerated towards the end, the fielding side ensured the target remained within reach.
In reply, Delhi Capitals approached the chase with clarity and patience, reaching 155 for 3 in 19 overs. Early intent from the top order kept the asking rate in check, while the middle order ensured there were no late stumbles. Jemimah Rodrigues played a decisive role, remaining unbeaten on 51 from 37 balls and guiding the team home with measured aggression.
Support came from Shafali Verma, who scored 29, and Lizelle Lee, whose 46 provided a solid foundation for the chase. Mumbai’s bowlers attempted to build pressure through disciplined lines, but Delhi’s batters rotated the strike effectively and capitalised on scoring opportunities.
The result strengthened Delhi Capitals’ position in the WPL 2026 standings, while Mumbai were left to reflect on areas that need improvement, particularly during the early phases with both bat and ball.
