A major security alert was declared at Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport today after a handwritten note claiming the presence of an explosive device was discovered onboard an IndiGo aircraft scheduled to depart for Shillong.

The threat was identified during the final stages of boarding for flight 6E 7304, prompting the crew to immediately inform ground control and security agencies. In line with established aviation safety protocols, the aircraft was swiftly moved to a designated isolation bay at a safe distance from the terminal and active runways.

Passengers who had boarded were safely evacuated under the supervision of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) and escorted back to the terminal. Airport officials confirmed that all travelers and crew members are safe and are being assisted by airline staff while the situation is managed.

The Bomb Threat Assessment Committee was convened to evaluate the credibility of the note, leading to the deployment of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad along with canine units. Security teams are conducting a thorough sweep of the aircraft, including the cabin, overhead bins, cargo hold, and undercarriage. All checked-in and hand baggage has been offloaded for secondary screening.

Authorities emphasized that while such incidents often prove to be hoaxes, every threat is treated with the highest level of seriousness to ensure public safety. The airport director stated that the aircraft will remain in isolation until it is officially cleared by security agencies.

The incident has caused delays to the scheduled departure, and passengers have been informed of ongoing search operations. Local police have launched an investigation to trace the origin of the note and identify those responsible for the disruption.
