Boisar, Maharashtra, February 20, 2026 : A serene spiritual atmosphere filled the Mahavir Universe Residential Complex in Betagaon, Boisar East, on Friday evening as the Anahad Bani Jatha from Gurdwara Baru Sahib, Himachal Pradesh, performed soulful Gurbani Kirtan at the residence of the Malhotra family.
The one-hour devotional gathering, held from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM, drew members of the local Sikh community and residents from nearby areas. The dedicated raagis, students of Akal Academy under the Kalgidhar Trust, presented hymns set to Tanti Saaj—traditional string instruments such as the Dilruba and Saranda—accompanied by tabla. Their Raag-based compositions reflected the authentic maryada of Gurmat Sangeet, blending classical melodies with spiritual devotion.
The sacred programme was organised by the Malhotra family in loving memory of the their parents and highly respected social personalities, S.Mahendra singh Malhotra Ji and Smt Surjeet kaur Ji. The gathering served not only as a devotional offering but also as a tribute to his life of service, dignity, and commitment to community values.

Attendees described the performance as deeply meditative, evoking a sense of connection to Sikh heritage and the teachings of the Gurus. Many joined softly in singing, while others sat in contemplative silence, experiencing the tranquility of the scriptures.
The programme formed part of the jatha’s outreach initiative to bring Gurbani closer to households and communities, with a focus on preserving traditional kirtan practices among the youth. The Malhotra family expressed gratitude for the opportunity to host the jatha in remembrance of their revered patriarch, noting that the spiritual vibration of the Kirtan brought immense calm and collective blessings to their family and neighborhood.
The evening concluded with ardas and the sharing of prasad, leaving the sangat with a renewed sense of peace and a collective prayer for universal well-being.
